Just getting a few words down before I go to walk our little Princess Leia. Leia's mom works nights and so Leia is stuck at home without any company and needs to get out about halfway through, so we head out on her nights to make her time a little shorter and a little more fun. She's a great little girl, a Cairn Terrier, only about 8 months old now. Its been a joy to see her grow over the past 5 months or so as we've been walking her since she came home with mommy that first week - back in the day when she couldn't even climb the stairs! She's a little bulldog now, bounding, and jumping, even if she can't get somewhere she won't give up very easily--she's a terrier! She loves to chase down the moths and fireflies when we walk and barks at strange noises as if she were 120 pounds! In more general news, we recently adopted 2 green eared slider turtles from a client of ours. We've transferred them into a 55 gallon tank as they had just about outgrown their previous tank but in doing so have had to use more water and thus outgrown the filter that came with it. We haven't been able to find a filter that can keep the tank 100% clean (at least looking clean as its virtually impossible to keep an aqua tank actually, perfectly clean). The last recommendation we received was to install an actual 'pond' filter, like you might find from Home Depot. If our current 55 gallon standard aqua filter doesn't work, that will be our next move. I've gotten lots of great advice from friends and online turtle aficianados, but if anyone has experience with turtles, we're always open to general commentary and advice. We want them to be as happy and healthy as they can possibly be so feel free to share!
